Strength training simply increases your body's capacity to produce force. This is typically achieved using weights, machines, resistance bands, or body weight. I use barbells because they are infinitely loadable, and I can add weight slowly over time.

Becoming stronger helps with any action that requires a person to exert force externally. Thus, standing from a chair, helping a child or catching yourself from falling are all acts of "strength". Through training I strive to improve people's ability to interact with the world. Social media has hyjacked the term "strength" to refer to asethics, strength is not a look, strength is a basic human function which can be improved with training.
